Need your opinion on website advertisements

I know a lot of people don't pay a lot of attention to ads on websites. But, assuming you were going to look at the ads that were located on a page, would you notice an advertisement that was on the top or on the right side of the page? The site in question is http://www.slamomaha.com . I want to put an advertisement up supporting our band to assist in building local fanbase. The top ad will let us be 728 x 90 pixels and the side advertisement will let us be 120 x 600 pixels.

I'm just trying to get the best bang for my money by getting an ad that will get noticed more than another. Also, any tips on making an advertisement that is noticeable but not annoying (granted lots of ads are...)?
