I bought a really cheap PC for about 300 dollars or so. I wanted to use it to learn a new OS, make a domain controller, etc... you get the drift. Well the power went out and came back rather quickly and when I checked....the power was off. So I powered it back on and nothing comes back on screen. All I get is loud beaping noise from the hardware.

I don't have enough parts to go swapping in and out to see what the problem is. Does anyone know what it could be or hear anything like that?

I dont know as much as everyone here, but I do think its your ram, if you have 2 sticks of ram, try one at a time,if nothing happens try and find a friend with the same ram as you and try thiers, or if you have a computer in your house with the same type of ram try that before you ask your friend.

A power surge (which often happens when power drops and then returns) can take out most any part. In my experience, ram has a good chance of surviving though. It may take out the mb, cpu, hds, optical drives, psu, etc..

Disconnect power from all of the drives first and try it.

Disconnect the psu from everything else, short the green wire to any black wire, and see if the psu starts up.

After you short the PSU pins, hook up a fan to the moltex to see if you get power.

At the bottom you will see Computer Beeps, click it and it will open a list.

Scan the list for the type of beep you are hearing and that should answer your question.

Normally the beeping is due to your memory. Try reseating the memory. If that doesn't work, try one stick at a time. If that still doesn't help try reseating the video card.
