Im still running a Slot-A setup and have this ECS K7S5A coming now.
Will this board run XP or MP AMD chips? Also what memory should I use?

Thanks,
Shawn

Yes, the K7S5A will run XP and MP chips and you should probably go for DDR266 (PC2100) RAM. I current run 2 K7S5A board's both using PC133, but that's because I had a lot of it to use up. 😉

is there really that much differance using pc133 vs ddr?? I Mean does it RELLY speed things up or is it just a hardly noticable thing?

yes to both.
as for memory, i've never had much luck running the k7s5a with ddr ram. maybe it's just me but this board has never been stable for me at 133 fsb and ddr memory.
i did build a duron / sdram system on a k7s5a for my father that is stable, however

for performance you want ddr ram IF you can get the board stable.
safe bet to get the board stable is sdram.

this is only my experience. others have had good luck with the k7s5a running ddr ram. i think that it's pretty much how good your power supply is and if you get a good mb from ecs.
there are good forums on the k7s5a here and at ocworkbench.com

good luck

I have two system using this MB, one with 256k Crucial ddr and one with 256k Micron sdr pc133.
Both overclock slightly to 138fsb with complete stability.
The ddr is somewhat quicker than the sdram and at this point there is little price delta.
Use pc133 if you have some now, get pc2100 when you have spare change.
