Thanks for looking,

I need Windows XP drivers for my new laptop that came with Windows 7. I'm not totally satisifed with the speed it run's the OS at. My problem is the Acer website only offers drivers for Windows Vista & 7.

Can anyone help me out? My laptop is an Acer Aspire 5532. Here's a link to it on the BB website - http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+A...&skuId=9555769

Thanks

You need to figure out the make of the chipset and other components and get the OEM drivers.

In any case there is No real reason that a new laptop would work significantly slower then it would with Win XP.

Almost all laptop as is work slower than they should because they come with enormous amount of Junk loaded up at StartUp. it takes usually 2 hours to clean a new laptop from this Junk.

Power saving and CPU payload also need to be configure to your liking.

These two utilities (StartUp & Process Explorer)can help in this process.

Yeah stick with 7, but instead put in a compatible processor, the reviews there say it's a socket 1 (AMD TL series), so going to a faster dual core would be a world better than going to XP.

The reason it's running slow is Acer loaded it with garbage at the factory. All OEMs do this.

Make an image file before you start, or using Windows 7 backup to create the image, because I bet you are going to be disappointed in XP on this notebook, that is if you can even find the drivers. Honestly, I don't understand this love people have for XP, which is what a seven or eight year old operating system. What I definitely dislike about XP is how easy the system gets corrupted by viruses, spyware and other little problems.

Removing the extra junk Acer put on the system is almost as easy as just using the uninstall feature of Windows to uninstall all the junk. Cleaning up a new computer isn't rocket science. The vast majority of the extra stuff can be eliminated by simply uninstalling it.

No way would I go back to XP especially from 7, SimMike2 probably right its bloatware installed by OEM ie Acer in this case, also on new PC/laptops you should give it a good week or so for Win7 to learn your computer habbits, superfetch etc is there for a reason ,let it do its job.
