Need wiring help - ignition switch to solenoid

The ignition switch was completely broken by the previous owner on my "new" Mustang. The tumbler is still good, but I'm going to have to redo the wiring myself.

The entire key-ignition comes in three parts, from what I can tell: key tumbler (reusing, still good), ignition switch (bought a new one), and some kind of end cap that plugs into the ignition switch (reusing, can't find where to buy a new one). The end cap that I have has the wires cut off very short, but I should be able to solder new leads on to it.

The end cap has (had) five wires, from what I can tell. Three coming out the side (red with a blue stripe, red with a gold stripe, and yellow), and two black wires that connected to the bolt on the back.

What I need to know is where the two red wires, the two black wires, and the yellow wire connect to the electrical system. I THINK I see the two red wires with stripes connected to the front terminals on the solenoid, but I have absolutely no idea where the other wires go. There is a black ground wire near the solenoid, and another yellow wire below it that (I think) used to go to the altenator.

If anyone knows offhand how these connect, or if anyone can find a wiring guide for ignition switches / solenoids for my car, I'd be extremely happy.

Thanks for the help.

I know there are wiring diagrams available for purchase online for a few dollars. I've got a 73 Mach 1 myself but I can't remember if the ignition wiring was listed on my diagram or not. I'll see if I can dig it up.

A typical (generic) ignition switch has the following connections:
+12 (to the battery)
acc (to things like the radio)
on (to everything else)
start (to the starter's solenoid)

You can use an ohmmeter to figure out where the wires go by checking the opposite end. I'd guess the two wires that go to the bolt on the back are most likely the +12.

Well, I googled 1966 Mustang wiring, and the first site was a link that had downloadable
schematics...
