I have a netgear mr814.

Comcast cable. I have both PC's downstairs now, but I need to move one to an upstairs bedroom. The downstairs one will be doing internet surfing and e-mail ONLY. No gaming. Gaming will be done on the wired system upstairs. So, one wired and one wireless.

Wireless B

The only considerations:

The adapter must have enough range and strength to get the signal from upstairs to down. We are talking maybe 100 feet max here, but through the floor. The pc only needs to be able to do e-mail and web browsing.

The adapter needs to be as cheap as possible, while still maintaing the minumu functionality.

I prefer not to do rebates unless it is a really good deal. I prefer ordering from a newegg or something

PCI or USB are both fine.

100? and floor? It is a long shoot.

Option one: CompUSA has this week a USB adaptor for $9.99 after rebate.

It can be installed high above the system with few feet cable may be it will work as is, or you can try to fit it with home made reflector.

No Guarantee YMMV.

Option two: Buy an Inexpensive combo of Wireless Router and a card.

Use the Wireless Router as an Access Point and place it closer to the destination.

Thanks for the links. I think I overestimated the distance. I believe it is 75ft or less. However I may be able to locate the outer so that it is directly beneath the connection... so maybe then 20ft and through the floor
