I will be driving in SE michigan in a 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege - I have narrowed it down to 3 choices, They are all of just about equal price: 2 Questions below

Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport - Performance Winter

Bridgestone Blizzak REVO 1 - Performance Winter

Link to tire

Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 - Studless Ice & Snow

1 - What do you recommend?

2 - What is the difference between Performance Winter and Sudless Ice & Snow?

edit: ordered the Dunlop Winter Sport M3 for $856 2 day shipped with alloy wheels.

But you don't have to take my word for it...

I was looking at those. How do those handle in dry conditions? michigan mostly has 1-2 inches on days it snows with the every once and a while 5-10 inch snow. the rest of the time it is 2 lanes of dry with packed snow/ice in the middle and on the edges.

edit: meaning will i only get 1/2 winters out of them when the other tires i might get 3-4 winters?

winter tires are for the weak. metal chains FTW.

You wanna drive with chains all winter at highway speeds?
I don't know what the roads are like in NY, but Michigan generally has its act togather with snow removal; especially in the city.

Chains are way overkill, and a pain in arse anyway.

There is a "View Results" button...

Anyhow, I would go with what BillGates said.

yeah, but i always put the results option on top for the dummies who click vote on the top option no matter what.

plus the people who are too lazy to hit view results every time you refresh the thread (read: me) and vote for something random.

I love the Blizzak WS-50s on my '99 M3. This is my second set, and it would take a lot to convince me to try something else.

Congrats - you made a wise choice. I can't wait to put mine on for the season - the snow fell for the first time last night and today... I might wait a few more weeks yet though, it isn't sticking yet.

And to answer your question about dry traction and the M3's: I've heard great feedback about this combo. If you read the user comments for the tire at Tire Rack, you'll see that tons of people are running them year round. I don't know if I agree with doing this but it definitely says something about the tires!
