Just hit homedeopt or lowes and buy the nicest unit you can afford. You will get over the noise really quick when you quit sweating

I like Fedders Air Conditioners myself, because they work great and they're built like a tank! I accidently dropped and rolled mine down down a hill last year (oops), but it still works great.

You can get them pretty cheap at the Home Depot... I think that I saved about $20 getting it from them instead of my local appliance store.

Go to home depot.

Check out LG and also the "Hampton Bay" ones. Notice that they are identical.

Also notice they have a 5 year in house warranty and among the better efficiency ratings, although you won't see any with BAD ratings. I got my 6500 btu for I think $129. No complaints. Cools off my uninsulated 1 car garage just fine, and during our 2 week power outage it kept my small house at tolerable temperature levels. (Although it is best suited for 1-2 rooms)

Funny... Fedders was making the Hampton Bay models for Home Depot when I got mine.

Hah, good catch then. I just assumed they had the contract - at the store where I got mine, they had a pile of LGs and a pile of hampton bays and they were 100% identical except for the sticker on the front.

Mine is an actual LG and I have been very happy with it, although like I said, it cools my garage.

The one I got from sears kicks the crap out of our new hampton bay. The new one is loud as hell, puts out less cool air and seems cheaply made. I can see inside the hampton bay where they used styrofoam like the stuff they make 2 dollar ice chests out of.
