Need Virus Scan Recommendation

I want to purchase a virus scan program. I have heard about Norton and Mcafee. Is one better than the other? Do they cause any conflicts with firewalls or any other programs? I am running Windows ME. Let me know. Thanks.
 
i've always been using NAV, never had problems with it and use the liveupdate function every week to update the virus definition files. it comes with a feature to scan mail attachments.
