I just bought a new widescreen LCD monitor from newegg... and I think it is time to upgrade my existing video card, which is crap.

There are so many video cards out there, and I dont know which to choose from.
I dont game much, if any at all... mostly for multimedia tasks like watching DVD, music, etc... and productivity like word processing... however, I would like something decent, that has the ability to play some games.

DVI and/or TV output would be nice, although not necessary...

It would be great if you guys could help me out and have some options with different price ranges...

<$75
<$100
<$150
... and anything else...

Thanks!

I'm guessing that you are looking for an AGP card?

If gaming were not in the picture, I would suggest a cheap Matrox card for their suppurb 2d output.

Since gaming is such a casual thing for you, I would not spend more than the $75 price point. I've seen 9600xts go for about $60 recently that would probably be just fine for your needs.

Download and install nVidia's latest unified drivers. Don't use the ones that come with the card...

Is there something wrong with the picture quality on the 9600xt? IMHO, the 9600xt would be a better choice than the 6200.
