First, let me just say that it's not that i want to buy things at Compusa but it's just that someone gave me a pretty big sum of CUSA gift card so i went and buy ATI X800 pro give or take 1.5 yrs ago. Against my own judgement i bought the Replacement plan but now i'm glad i bought one. My card starts experiencing random glitches like artifacting and random crashes at random parts of BF2. I checked the fans and it seems like it's working so i don't know what happens. So i'm going to take the card back to CUSA to have them replace it.
What's going to happen most likely since X800 Pro is already phased out is that they will give me another gift card (Probably around $400 or so). But now i'm stumped with the exceptionally large amount of choices out there - every card with their ridiculous grade classifications... GT, XT, XL, GS, GTX, GT OC, GT XXX you know what i mean.
I usually play BF2, Fear. I generally Like FPS, Driving and Strategy games. I have a 20" LCD so preferably i'd want my games run at 1600x1200 - but i'm not picky about running stuff at lower resolution. I don't care much about AA or AF since everything in the game runs at a very fast pace so i don't really notice these things. I'd rather turn on the rest of the "eye candies" and have very playable frame rates than niggling over AA & AF.
So what the best card i can get for around $400 under the cirtumstances?
