digitalduck, get 7600GT if you want HDR performance. X850XT can't do HDR in oblivion. 7600GT will be faster than 6800GS/GT. As far as 2 gigs of ram go, I read that Oblivion is not too picky about 2 gigs. But in the future just add 2x512mb of ram for other games. Don't bother replacing it with 1x2gb and paying extra $$$.

OP, the problem with getting 6600GT is it probably wont allow you to run HDR comfortably. It's only $30 less than X800GTO and will be must slower in all other games. Unless you are buying a card just for Oblivion, it probably makes sense to overclock your processor to 3.2ghz or so, and get 6800GS, try to unlock it and make this your last system upgrade.

 
The HDR isn't worth it imo, especially for the performance hit. Bloom looks almost as good, and I am able to turn on 4xAA with no performance hit and it makes the game look FAR better, especially indoors where there are hundreds of little high poly trinkets lying around that easily get aliased.
