Need video card buying help

I really need to upgrade my TNT.

Is a Geforce1 DDR with TV out worth $140? Or should I just get an MX?

Also I want TV out.

How do the vodoodoo 4 and geforce2 MX's compare with the geforce1 DDR? Price/Performance?

V4 doesn't have TV-out.. but both of them are a better value.. some recent numbers I've seen basically have the MX on top in lower resolutions and the V4 on top in higher-resolutions.

Hmmm where did you get that from.

Anand's v4 review has the v4 way behind all the other cards. On pricematch the cheapest v4 with tv out is $135.

The cheapest MX w/tv-out is $107. And the cheapest DDR w/tv-out is $129 (140 to ship to Hawaii).

With these prices in mind should I get something now or wait till later?

you could wait... but eventually you'll need to bite the bullet. $110 for a geforce mx is not something i think you'll regret. besides, no matter what you'll notice a huge performance benefit from a regular tnt.

How about these question?

Is there a big difference in performance between a GF2 MX and a GF1 DDR?

Is TwinView worth losing for an extra 20 bucks for extra performance of the GF1 DDR w/TV?

I want to run games at 1024x768x32 if possible.

The GF2 MX will perform a little bit worse than a GF1 DDR, especially at higher resolutions.

Twinview is not something you need unless you do have 2 monitors and want to try it.

The GF2 MX and GF1 DDR are about the only cheaper cards you are going to find TV-Out on though. If you decide to drop the TV-Out and spend a little more you could get a Radeon DDR 32mb or GF2 GTS 32mb for under $180 these days.

the v4 seems to be around 30-40% faster than it used to be with the old drivers, Its very close to the speed of a gf2 mx, i know a guy on this board tested one at 1024x768x32 and got 59.7fps q3a demo1, which is about the same as the gf2mx in anands article got, the v4 in anands article got 42fps. If i wasnt so lazy i'd install q3a and find out myself.
