Need video card and video editing advice

I'm thinking of upgrading my GeForce2 MX card (putting it into a sister system) and going with a GeForce2 GTS 32mb DDR, probably the Asus 7700 or LeadTek Winfast.

I've also got a Sony DCRTRV320 digital camcorder that has S-Video and Firewire output. I'd like to (one day) plug the camcorder into my computer so I can do some video editing and recording on a CDR.

How is the GTS for video editing?

Crappy Crappy Crappy. As is ususally the case, anything Nvidia is great for gaming, a little shaky for anything else. If you want vid editing, go for an ATI AIW Radeon or even a plane jane 64meg DDR with VIVO. Much better choice, and not a bad gamer to boot.

I agree, if you are looking for more than just speed, get the Radeon. It is a tad slower than the GF2 GTS (except in high res 32bit color) but has excellent 2d, video-in capture, etc features and is cheaper.

I seen some Radeon 64 VIVO (make sure to get the VIVO ones!) for below $200.

how can you guys suggest the Radeon when it doesn't support Video for Windows WDM model ?

You would be much better off with the AIW-128 or the HappergaugeTV. or however you spell it.

Thanks for your advice everyone. I do play games but am willing to sacrifice for the video editing. I found an ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO for $181 at newegg.com and am leaning toward that.

Nic, I read your explanation of VfW in another thread, but I'm not sure how it applies in my case. What I'd like to do is send audio and video from my Sony camcorder to my computer. I assume I can hook the camcorder directly to the video card via VIVO and then edit the video with the Radeon card.

Even if I can't connect the camcorder directly to the video card, I can plug in a Firewire card and connect the camcorder to that.
