need VGA cooler

Hi,

I'm using GFX 5200 128mb AGP. (Some say it's nothing to hope if compared to GF MX4). My card is quite hot and its' fan just not enough to cool it off. I don't need an expensive one, just to cool it off...Got some choice here...

1. Artic Silver
2. Coolermaster
3. Thermal take Copper

My default VGA memory on PCI was set to 63MB.. can I increase that? Is it stabil? What can I do with this VGA for better performance? I'm playing Fifa Soccer 2003. I use Performance mode without adjust AA or AF.

If i understand you correctly, then i think you have your AGP apeture set to 64mb, set it to 128mb or 256mb.
Now for cooling. Are you getting onscreen glitches? or artifacts? Does you PC crash often while playing a game? If not then you dont need extra cooling.
Artic Silver isnt a cooler, its a thermal paste.
Coolmaster isnt a cooler either. Its a company that make Heatsinks/Fans.
ThermalTake Copper, isnt a cooler either, as like Coolmaster, they are a company, that make coolings stuff. But the copper thing, indicates that you probably mean the Thermaltake GF4 Copper Cooler. Which i dont think will fit on a GF FX5200.

I get the impression, from the Fifa game, that your from the UK? Correct? If so, then the stores listed below are UK baced and sell lots of PC gear.

Somehow I doubt the FX5200 even needs a fan... the heatsink will be warm no matter what you do... it's going to create heat even if you ptu a $100 cooling setup on it... and the FX5200 is slow enough that I really don't think it needs active cooling, just a decent size heatsink and adequate case ventilation.

This is probably the Thermaltake heatsink you're talking about, right? It's designed for GeForce4's... however, I'm not positive that the FX5200 has the two mounting holes that this heatsink uses.

I believe this heatsink is designed for GeForceFX cards, but I'm not sure where you'd buy it from, since it's a reference cooler that video card manufacturers would put on the cards when they make them.

Jeff7181, the HSF in your second link is for nV28 cards. IE; GF4 Ti4200s w/ AGP8x.
Are you sure that it`d even fit on a GF FX5200?

*EDITED* Misunderstood what you were asking... no I'm not sure... but like I said... I don't think cooling is an issue with an FX5200... so he probably doesn't need a new one anyway.

I just looked and MSI and Gainward both sell FX5200's with just a heatsink, no fan... so it's really not necessary...

If a 5200 is overheating I'd be thinking about case fans & ventilation... Nucleas what do you have taking air into and out of the computer case?

Oooooo.... shame on me, know little about cooling stuff. BTW, my AGP works fine-no glitches

BoomAM, what I meant was PCI texture memory size under Direct 3d setting... my AGP card is 128mb. AGP aperture is correct. I'm not from UK, just a football maniac hehehe.

Seems like my G FX5200 don't need any additional VGA HS. 🙂

Jeff, r u sure about MSI GFX5200 has no fan..? I got mine(see this, msi.com.tw)

Davegod, I'm using 420 iCute Casing + addtional 8" fan. My environment is hot too since I'm in hot country and w/o aircond.

Frens, what can i do to improve this GFX5200 performance...?

First things first, is get a second 80mm fan as an exhaust, and your exisiting 80mm fan as an intake. If you have room for a second fan.
That`ll lower system temperatures all round.
Then considering a bit of overclocking to the card.
