Need vacuum cleaner advice...

Well it's the OT forum isn't it 😛

I have a budget of ~$200cad... and I'd prefer to buy from worstbuy (AHEM!)

What's a reliable brand? Is bagged better than the see-through bagless? Is HEPA filtration really needed?

Any review sites would be much appreciated 🙂

If you buy from BB and get the extended warranty, you can take it back in a couple years and get a new one. Their technicians don't know anything about vacuums, so if you say it's broken and you have the extended warranty they just give you a new one.

Get one with a disposible bag. I have a bagless model and I hate cleaning the damn thing out. I get covered in dust and then sneeze for an hour.

This is a slight problem with my bagless. I picked it up from Walmart, it's a hoover, ended up being ~$90 ish. It has "hepa type" filtration, whatever that means, all I know is dust gets everywhere when I clean out the filter.

It does a great job though, even for a bagless. I went bagless over bagged because even with the filter, its much easier than changing a bag (and the dust is relativly fresh in the canister, unlike a bag, which wrecks havoc on my nose)

if you care about your money hop over to your local library, they'll have consumer reports in the reference section. some vacumns suck. 😉

Hoover Windtunnel Bagless. Preferably Gold or Blue. I own one and it is the d@mm best vacuum I ever owned. The windtunnel design and the extremely powerful 12amp motor makes this thing a freakin beast. Even when it's full it keeps sucking!!

The original price they were pushing was like $1500...paid less than half...more like 1/3 😀

It does great...and the shampooing kit works well, too.

I've actually been impressed with our vacuum cleaner. And we've had multiple canister vacs.

I've had a $90 bagless Dirt Devil for a while now, and it rocks. I prefer bagless over vacuums that take bags, but it's just a personal preference thing, to the best of my knowledge. But anyways.. Dirt Devils, in my experience, are real good vacuums 🙂
