I have a Toshiba Libretto 50CT. It has a PCMCIA 16-bit slot, serial port, and printer port, and that's it. I need to get USB on this laptop. Even USB 1.1 would do. I have tried 32-bit PCMCIA to USB cards but no workie. So after buying 2 diffrent PCMCIA to USB cards I found out that the laptop has a 16-bit PCMCIA slot and all the PCMCIA to USB cards I can find are 32-bit cards. So I've started thinking, maybe I can find an adaptor from PCMCIA 16-bit to 32-bit (some sort of exteral device), but I've been unable to find such a product. Also I have a PCMCIA to SCSI that works great!... Maybe I can find a SCSI to USB adaptor. Not much luck there... The adaptors I found were to connect SCSI devices to the computer via USB, and the adaptor I would need sould connect USB devices to the computer via SCSI or PCMCIA (16-bit). Anyone got any brite ideas?

(BESIDES BY A NEW LAPTOP!)

Yep! 32-bit Cardbus slots have been standard in laptops for at least 5 years maybe more. Your Libretto is approaching museum status. :(

But here's a possible workaround. You might be able to find an old PCMCIA NIC. Link your old laptop to a desktop by Ethernet and maybe you can access the files on the desktop's USB and transfer them to your laptop?

What device would you link to? The NIC is good -all you need is to connect to another machine that has USB support.
