i just formatted my computer because it was so badly infested wit spyware it was nothin but a giant paper weight.

im runnin a fresh install of windows rite now heres my specs

kt3 ultra2 motherboard

athlon xp 2800+ tbred b ( suppose to run at 2250 mhz)

my problem is my computer is runnin as an athlon xp 1500+ at 1.35 ghz now that usualy always happens when i first reinstall then i just go to bios and change the fsb from the defualt of 100 to 166. but now when i try to bring the fsb to even 133 my computer resets and dosent start up unless i clear the cmos. i tried everything. my computer just refuses to run as a 2800+ im losing out on about 1000mhz.
if somone can plz reply to this it would be gratefully appreciated. thanks.

Tried updating the bios? Does your motherboard support FSB 133/166? Is your CPU voltage (VID) at 1.65?

Make sure your agp/pci locks are working in your bios before you change the jumper. Perhaps when you reset the cmos it defaulted to an improper setting. Do you have to manually set the jumper to 66/33 or 67/33? Also are you giving the cpu some extra voltage when setting the jumper to handle thegreater frequency? Are you making sure the memory timings are relaxed (I know you have a 2700DDR but still, it is good to relax those timings to isolate your problem. My system would reset when my memory was acting up if that helps.

1. Make sure lAGP/PCI ocks are enabled. ( I am unsure about that board so whether it is automatic or manual I am unsure)
2. Make sure voltage is increased to cpu when jumper is set to 166. (You know what your cpu needs, I hope, lol)
3. Make sure your memory timings are relaxed until you find yourself stable in Windows. Once in Windows stably note your BIOS settings and adjust memory. (Just in case you get a CMOS reset you have all you're BIOS settings at hand because I know I can't remember them all.
4. If those things fail, try setting a 133 jumper setting or a 150 jumper setting to see if you get stability.

ive had this motherboard and cpu combo since 03 theres no jumpers for fsb its all inside bios ive never had to do anythin beside raise the fsb the voltage and memory timings always took care of them selves this is the first tiem ive been unable to raise the fsb like this.
