I just built a new system with an Iwill KK266 mobo, Duron 850, 128mb of ram, Maxtor 20GB ATA/100 Drive, etc. My problem is that when I start my computer and try to boot, I start with my windows 98 (or WinME) boot disk and try to start windows setup. I get to the part where is checks your setup in DOS and then tries to load the setup files. I have my CD-Rom on the other IDE channel by the way. When setup tries to load the setup files from CD I get an error in DOS that says "Standard Mode: Fault outside of MS-DOS Extender". I don't have any idea of what to do, any help would be much appreciated, I can't live without my computer and am just using a friends right now. Thanks,
Jeremy

Does your system support boot from CD-ROM? enable it in your bios and try the setup by booting to the cd rom to win 98.

Also format your HDD with the Maxtor MaxBlast Utility and a boot disk

Boot disk for Win98 and WinME are NOT interchangeable. Also, check the bios setting and set it to default and disable the anti Virus option until the OS is completed. Try booting again with the Win98 boot disk and choose with CD support. Pay attention to the drive letter assigned to your CD Drive. Change dir to the CD drive and then CD to Win98 directory. Type setup and see if it works.
