My primary monitor is a Samsung 213t, which I couldn't be happier with, but I'm needing another unit that's smaller.

I am involved in the design process of several new websites and I need to be able to view these sites during their design at the resolution that the masses will be seeing them in, which is probably 1024X768. I am going to assume that the majority of users who will be using the sites will be using 17" CRT monitors at 1024X768.

I need a LCD that will provide close to the same viewing image and resolution as the 17" CRT's. So, I think I need a 15" LCD. I realize that the viewing image will be about 1" smaller, but the resolution will be the same. The 17" LCD jump up to 1280X1024.

What is the best 15" LCD with DVI? Best value?

A 17" 1280x1024 native LCD run at 1024x768 centered would be closer to the size of the the CRT, no?

My brother has this 15" LCD: Eizo L367. It's 1024x768 with VGA and DVI.
Newegg has the L365 which is the same but in black:

It's a very good monitor with an excellent picture. The panel is plenty fast for gaming and it comes with a load of features. Since it is an Eizo it tries to be professional with a calibration software that controls the LCD via USB and numerous settings on the panel itself.

You may be correct; however, running a LCD at anything but the native resolution looks horrible.

The image can only be degraded if it is stretched to fill the native res/screen area. Centering avoids that and maintains the size you want (17" CRT is 16' viewable, 17" LCD is 17" viewable but at reduced and centered resolution of 1024x768 is close to 16" also, the remainder filled with black bars).
