I think Im going to make the jump to SSDs. I need one for my desktop and another one for my laptop. My laptop is going to love it because the heat the current HDD generates is almost deadly!

I don't mind getting a lower grade one for my laptop and another higher grade one for my desktop.

Only thing I ask is that both drives have to be at least 500GB and for a good price-to-performance ratio.

Thank you :)

Crucial mx100 or m500. Whichever one is cheaper in your country. 512GB for your laptop and 256GB for your PC.

CT512MX100SSD1: €164.89

The M500 doesn't come in a 500GB version so that would be automatically discarded.

I guess that leaves you with two MX100s. Sounds like a plan. Also check out Samsung EVOs.

Now I'm curious. What application requirements require a 500GB drive, and not a 480GB drive? (Hint: They are both 512GiB internally.)

You CAN use both an SSD and a HDD on a desktop PC you know? I'd recommend buying a 256GB SSD for Windows, Apps and some games, and a 1-2TB HDD or SSHD for storage.

Im currently maxing out my 500GB drive on both the laptop and desktop.

Then you're going to want something BIGGER than 500GB. Like a 750GB Samsung 840 EVO.

I've had issues with cloning drives, that are right at their capacity limits.

I use currently a 500GB for just Apps and some games and I am almost maxing it out. I have other methods of storing data.

No I do not want anything bigger.

I have never had issue cloning drives as I use Clonezilla numerous times a week.

Anyways, this is getting offtopic. So at 500GB, the best choice seems to be the MX100

Just a FYI, you don't want to fill up a SSD to its rated capacity, and that is why VirtualLarry said to go bigger.

And yeah, the MX100 line is nice.
