I want relatively quiet yet high powered fans, LED doesn't matter (although I'd like blue to match what I've got already). I have no idea what brand to get, anything I look up has very mixed reviews. Thanks guys!

See the C-M fans I reviewed here: http://www.techimo.com/reviews/ - main review is on the black one, the LED review mainly covers the few differences. SVC has had the best prices on them. And see the fan tests on XtremeSystems forums for more ideas. He'll be doing the C-M black fan above in his next group test too.

I prefer beefier motors -- such as you suggest in your own preference -- paying less attention to the top-end noise ratings than to the amount of noise generated in the mid-range of a fan's speed.

Unless you absolutely need your fans to be 120x25mm, look at Panaflo and Sanyo-Denki "San-Ace" 120x38mm fans. The Panaflos should be available at SidewinderComputers.com. You'll have to shop around for San-Ace fans.

EDIT: Depending on how "beefy" you prefer the fan-motor, you might also want to look at a 120x38mm DELTA Tri-Blade fan that top-ends at 3,700 rpm (and around 50+ dBA) pulling between .8 and .9 Amps of juice. The amperage is not excessive for running from a PWM or voltage-controlled motherboard fan-plug, and it is a fairly quiet fan below 2,500 rpm.

Besides those mentioned above, Scythe slipstream (1200RPM in particular) could be what you're looking for.

Anyone got anything availble at NewEgg? Or a link to some of those high powered fans? Can not seem to find them on any sites I trust. :-\

I highly recomend them.

Anyhow OP b4 you start buying, let me tell you how you buy fans.

There are two things you need to look at when looking at a fan.

1. Static Pressure - This is how well the fan operates when something is obstructing it, like a heat sink for example.

2. CFM - this messures how much air the fan pushes per min.

Now you would think that the two top is related, they are, but not exactly. There are fans which have excellent CFM, but shitty Static. These kinds of fan make the best case fans for pushing air in and outside your case. However the moment something goes in front, you'll lose all your performance out of the fan.

The other Static Pressure, is what you concentrate on when buying a fan for a heat sink, or when you have a fan filter up front.

Now for a rear fan for example, it has no obstructions. Its free flowing, and very open. This fan would be an ideal spot for a high cfm fan. Something that pushes great air.

However up front, i betcha you have something blocking. Or its not as free flowing. In this case, you really want a great static pressure fan.

For great static pressure fans, i recomend, Zalman F3 series, or the scythe Ultra Kaze, However its very loud unless you downvolt them. (fan controller)

For CFM You cant go wrong with the scythe slipstreams.

If your rich, and you dont mind poping 25 each for a fan, the best across the board is the ever so rare sanyo denki Sanaces. I believe zepper has some for sale if you truely want the king of all fans.

Anyhow here is my recomendations, if your on a budget, you cant go wrong with these guys. They have the best performance/price ratio out of ALL the fans you'll ever see.

These are the ultra kaze's:

Here is the Panflo, however i recomend the ultra kaze's over this one:

This is the Zalman F3:

Here is the scythe Slip Stream:

I highly recomend this controler:

However this is what i use, and its very nice.

You see now why i love jab-tech? :p

The Noctua NF-P12 seems to have made a name for itself lately, too. $20 a pop, though, so a tad on the expensive side.

They are AMAZING fans. Absolutely fucking amazing. They have a great build quality don't feel cheap like most other fans, the colors are a little weird, but the packaging they come with and all the diff things are great. The covered wire feels sturdy and is quite nice and long. They're extremely quite and move a LOT of air.

In my experience, SVC.com is a very reliable reseller and they carry a large variety of fans. They are the only ones who consistently have those C-M fan kits at a good discount. I did a quick Froogle and found the LED version at a competitive price at ExcaliberPC and Sundial Micro. SVC is the only one with the good price on the black ones. Even the Egg sells those at MSRP when they have them. The Sanyo Denki 1011 is made of unobtainium these days. I have one new one and one refurb in my FS/T listing linked below. You can occasionally find the two-wire versions at a reasonable price (often refurbs). There is a substantial thread over in the XtremeSystems forum bemoaning this sorry state of affairs re. the 1011...

And theScythe Ultra Kaze is a good unit to look at assuming you have room for 38mm thick fans. The 1011 is also 38mm thick, and the Panaflo 120mm fans are also (three wire versions aren't all that common on these either, so you have to read listings carefully and know your part numbers to be sure you don't get just a two wire fan with a 3-wire cable, BTW. And I also recommend jab-tech for fans and anything else he stocks - really nice folks deserving of your business.

sanyo Denki Sanaces would slap that noctuna upside silly.

If your looking at fans in this price range as i said, zepper has some on sale, some new, and yes the sanaces are the KING.

The only quam i have with this fan is the blades. There friggin weak, and i broke one b4 because something got logged in there.

The blades are weak, but the fan is a monster. The ultra Kaze's come close to it, but you can get any better then the san aces.

How loud are they though?

At full speed, the Sanyos are loud but not an irritating loudness. But even at 5V they put out more air than many fans do at 12V (somewhere between 50 and 55CFM - ~75 CFM at 7V and most would never need more than that). And yes, the blades are brittle, so keep stuff out of them. Look at the curves on XtremeSystems forum. Each of the tick points on the curves is a voltage point (usually starting from 5V if the fan can do it). Really fine exhaust and radiator fans. They have relatively large hubs, so can have hot spots in some applications.
