Need to work at home due to being disabled

Hey all

I've just found out that I'm not going to be able to leave my house for quite a while next month due to extensive surgery that prevents me from using my legs for a few months (ugh).

For the longest time, I carefully saved my money while I was employed for an occasion like this, but I'm worried that it won't be enough (I'm a student, so every penny counts). I'd like to be able to work while I'm laid up, but all I can find are those stupid "work from home!!" ads that have no real substance.

Can anyone give any suggestions? I considered ChaCha, but they cut the pay rate in half quite a while ago, so it isn't really viable for me anymore Part of this is also the fact that I think I'll go crazy if I've got nothing to do.

I have some basic qualifications in computer related stuff, but nothing really competent for something IT or programming related. My field is mainly hospitality. Of course I'm not picky, I just need A job.

Unfortunately no. My computer skills are pretty much hardware limited, and even then it's only really A+ level stuff.

I really hate to say it, but you could sell insurance over the phone/through e-mail.

See about getting a land line and a decent internet connection set up at your apartment. You may be able to get a job working in a at-home call center. They would set you up with software to connect with their network, and their auto-dialer system would call your phone to connect you with customers.

I'd like to know the answer to your question as well since my company is cutting PT hours to like 8 hours a week!

if you do this, please make sure it's quiet in the room you're working from. i'm all for at-home work and empowerment, but sometimes i get connected to nice reps but they are in a noisy room (baby crying in the background, tv on, etc).

are there any research-type work at your school or from your professors that you can do from home? you could also try to sell some stuff on craigslist that you may not need/want anymore... the buyer would just have to come over to your place (which is usually the case anyway). good luck!
