Need to view a floppy but I get an error.. Help please.

I need to view a floppy for my dad (tax returns..) and I try and it won't go. Says I need to format it which I don't want to do. Is there anyway to viewing the files?

It sounds like you are trying to read a MAC disk on a PC or vice versa.

Not a MAC disk. Could me using Win2k with NTFS be a problem?

try booting from a dos disk and copy it over that way.

You are the 3rd person within the last 3 days I've seen with the EXACT same problem. I had a customer call in the other day with this problem. Someone on another forum had this same problem. And now you.

Does it do this with all your floppies?

It hasn't in a while. Most floppies work fine.

have you tried :

chkdsk a: /F

Get another copy (disk) of the files or get you Dad to email them to you.

What is the exact error you are getting? Can you access the disk from a DOS prompt?
