Hiya, I need to upgrade my monitor/s as they are getting pretty old now. The colour is rather poor too(i can see sharp and blocky colour changes in certain games/movies).

What i have now:
Benq FP202w (1680x1050)
Hanns-g (1920x1080)
LG (I don't even know, its an awkward resolution)

I have my eye on a Catleap 27"@2560x1440 but would it be better to go for another 2 1920x1080s ?
Also, what are your thoughts on 5 monitors in portrait mode ?

I don't plan to play games in eyefinity(will just use single monitor for games) but i want the extra space the higher resolution will give me.

I use 3d modelling/sculpting applications so the more space the better!

Im running:
3930k@4.6ghz
32gb of ram
vapor-x 7970 3gb

In the future i will probably sell the 3gb version and buy 2 6gb ones.

I don't care about 120hz or 3d, i just want to have decent colour without it being "professional grade".

Thanks people :)

Do you find in your 3D modelling you refer to other materials or use multiple applications?

For me programming I find having multiple code windows open and reference documents a boon to productivity. If they are hidden behind the window the alt tabbing slows me down and makes it harder to cross reference the information. So I would find the 2x 1080 screens better because that is sufficient to fit my IDE (well its 1200 for me) and also have another screen with code or documentation on it that I am using at the same time.

If that is not the case then you may find that your 3D modelling benefits from the higher density pixels and more working screen space for the single application you use instead. How much extra gunf around the screen is there?

One thing to also consider is that running games at 2560x1440 is a bit of a challenge for a single card, you'll be turning down details to make it work well.

Thank you for replying BrightCandle, if i get the 27" monitor then it will replace that small LG one, i have them 3 running right now(extended not eyefinity). I do use a lot of reference images and what not while doing 3d on the 24".

After giving it some more thought I think i WILL go for the 27".
