need to stream in-sync audio to several computers

so i need the same song to be playing on 3 computers simultaniously (for parties basically).

with shoutcast, the delay is around 20 seconds (wired 100mb network).

anyone knwo of any other good programs that can stream audio with minimal delay?

fyi:
song is playing on computer1, winamp, shoutcast dnas, and shoutcast server all on computer 1

comps 2 and 3 are on a wired network to comp 1
bitrate is at 320kbps

thanks,
-Vivan

VideoLAN VLC Media Player can probably do it. It does video perfectly, so it should have no trouble with just audio.

thats bc vlc is streaming the files themselves, and then doing the decoding on the client end.

the problem here is that different clients buffer different amounts of music..so they are allways out of sync...

No, I was streaming the video file using RTP Multicast and it was perfectly synched. Sound and all.

EDIT: Oh I misunderstood what you were saying at first, but still, it was perfectly synched for me. I'd say try it out.

VLC will do this. I've done it before with 4-5 systems (wired) and they were all perfectly synced AFAICT.

where is the delay coming from? are the computers receiving the stream in sync with each other (but not the source computer), or are they out of sync with each other as well?

you might try setting the main computer to use the audio stream instead of the local audio source

also, if the computers are buffering differently, try changing their buffering settings. i know in winamp you can change the amount of buffer for streams, check to make sure they are all on the same setting, or try setting them all to 0 (or turn off buffering)

why?

did you read the OP? he said for parties basically. friend of mine did the same at his place in college. he used shoutcast, but managed to get it down to it barely being out of sync... not sure what he eventually did tho
