Let's say on Wednesday I smoked a little bit. On Friday (9 days later) I'm gonna have to go in for a blood test. What can I eat/drink to flush out my system?

THC doesnt stay in your blood more than a few days. If it was a piss test you might be in trouble.

edit* not that id recomend smoking again before the test ;)

I've heard THC is traceable for up to a month, but it's much more noticeable if you've smoked the last few days.

What kind of blood test? Is it for your health or is it meant to be a drug test? If it's health related you probably don't have anything to worry about.

How many times have you smoked in the last 2 months? If you're a weekend warrior and it's only been like 2-4 times you are fine already. If you smoked 5 times a week for the last few months, you are screwed.

There is no way to clean up for a blood test. The stuff for urinalysis only dilutes your system enough so that the ammount that actually gets into the test tube is below the line.

It's meant for health. Going on this new medicine that could affect the levels of something else in my system. They need to monitor that through regular blood tests.

It's traceable for up to a month depending on usage. If you are Snoop, yes they could pop you 28-30 days later if you went cold turkey. If you just do it once a week or so there isn't enough in your system to be detectable after a few days.

Wait, what?

They won't even test for drugs in a health test.

Passing a drug test

Seems like sound advice.

It only took me 3 seconds on google to find it too. Who would of thought? :p

This guy is either very lucky or he's faking the article. Drug testers specifically look for Golden Seal and other "only used for cleaning out your system for a drug test" cleaners.

EDIT: The guy who wrote the article I mean.

This is news? I thought hair follicle tests were a common way to test for drugs of all types.

1. I'm not a frequent smoker. Just once in a while. I don't mind stopping at all.
2. Sorry I don't remember exactly what they're testing for in the health test. You're probably right in that they won't be testing for it, but hard to know for sure. The problem isn't if I come up positive, they can't do anything about that. The problem is that I'm a minor (17), so they can share results w/ my parents.

Hair follicle tests are undefeatable. Whatever you took, as long as the hair you've got was growing at that time, can be detected. And shaving your head isn't enough to get around it... they will also check armpit, pubic, arm, facial, eyebrows, and nose hair if they have to.

This is for any drug at all too, not just THC.

The plus side is hair follicle tests are VERY expensive. Only in the highest level/security jobs will they give them to you.

Don't bother taking chemicals to mask any drugs, they might throw off what the doctor is testing for. The doctors won't call the police. My room mate went to the doctor because of stomach problems and listed all of the drugs that he'd done in the last 6 months, the doctor just told him not to take so many hallucinogens, but told him not to worry about the pot.

I'm assuming they wont be running something like that in a general health/physical. Besides its much much cheaper to run a drug screen through urine.(Or so I'm told as I work in a hospital that is all about saving money and we generally have people piss in a cup first because its more accurate and its cheaper.)

Generally when we draw blood to check for drugs we're looking for tylenol, aspirin, NSAIDS, ethanol(alcohol) and a couple other OTC things. Otherwise we have to get specific about what we're drawing(say dilantin or other such things that require serum blood testing.)

If its just a health checkup, they'll draw some basic labs, CBC w/diff and a Chem 7 panel and probably not much else.

First off ignore any advice that was on that website which was posted. I used to work in the drug testing business, and if you want to take my word for it (or not) that guy is just talking out of his ass.

If it has been nine days and you only smoked a little (one joint?) and are not a habitual smoker, then you are probably fine. THC and the associated metabolites are indeed fat soluble, but that doesn't mean you won't have some floating around your system. Furthermore, it is highly unlikely they would do a drug screen from a blood sample - the sample volume would by nature be very small and you have to prepare the sample in specific ways to screen for drugs of abuse.
Also because any THC in your bloodstream would be at a very, very low concentration and since the blood sample by it's very nature would be small, the chance of finding a concentration of THC above the reporting cutoff level (the minimum value that can be reported as positive) is highly unlikely.

Don't.
worry.
about.
it.

Health blood tests and drug blood tests are completely different areas, and even though insurance may be picking up the bill they won't just give the hospital free reign to test for everything. Unless your parents had reason to suspect you of doing drugs, and SPECIFICALLY asked for them to do the test (and even then I think the doctors are required to tell you they are testing for drugs and get your consent even as a minor), they aren't doing the test.

Hospitals have no reason to care if you have a few tokes a month. It's extra time away from patients that have more serious issues, plus it doesn't affect any medication or treatment they would give you in the first place.

ROFL! They aren't likely to test for abusable drugs in that kind of test. Those get pretty spendy and are drug spefic, NOT usually as part of some kind od health screen. Now an insurance company MIGHT test for drugs in a phycical for life insurance or something, but that would still be a separate test, and you'd know it was being done, because of the specific paperwork needed.
BTW, THC is definitely detectable for about 30 days, (depending on the test used, how your body metabolizes it, and how much you smoke, but most testing protocol has it's minimum threshold limits below which, its not reported as positive...I've taken drug tests as a regular thing for my work for over 20 yrs. I've seen dozens of people try to beat them with various means...Golden SEal pills, G.S teas, masking agents, etc...MOSt reputable tests also look for those and are considered to be an automatic FAIL if they're found...
