Need to reprogram MS bluetooth mouse 5000

So I just bought this mouse, and the 4th button that it has is set to back, and it doesn't seem that you can reprogram it to do anything else.

I'm pretty sure that there should be a workaround to this. I searched around a bit, but didn't really turn up anything that made sense.

Basically, I want it to become a double click button, which I did on my razer copperhead with its thumb button. Anybody know how this would be done?

Thanks in advance.

It's the software on the disk that comes with the mouse. You can download the latest version from here.

After you install it, you can use the "Buttons" tab of the mouse properties to change the mouse buttons to suit your preferences either globally, or for individual programs.

The mouse didn't come with any software, it was OEM from newegg. There doesn't seem to be an exact match for it on the MS website either. I downloaded some software for a try and it didn't work, it wouldn't reassign the mouse.

Any other ideas?

What do you mean by "it didn't work". Exactly what did you try? I always use custom button settings for different applications and the IntelliPoint "Wireless Optical Mouse 5000" option works fine here with the Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000.

1. downloaded the software.

2. tried many different mice and set the left button to double click.

3. went into firefox, tried the button.

4. No good, it's still back.

I didn't forget to hit apply or anything, for the record. What gives?
