Need to replace my Linkys wireless router with DD-WRT

techs

Lifer
I have a Linksys wrt84g wireless router which I had put dd-wrt on. It worked great for a few years. It has now gone to brick heaven.
I need to order a new one today, and just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this one using dd-wrt:

As near as I can tell, this model, like my current one, only takes the "mini" firmware, which is all I need.

Can anyone add anything to help me?

Thanks!

I had a WRT54G v8.2 with the smallest version of DD-WRT on it and I remember it being pretty bad handling 5 connections wirelessly. It would crash every few days, never up for more than 7 consecutive days.

I switched to an Asus WL-520GU (based on advice posted in this forum) earlier this year and loaded Tomato onto it and it's been rock solid. At one point, it was up for 120+ days without crashing. I only lost that record because the wall socket it was connected to got screwed up and I had to move the router to another socket.

I'm using a WRT54GL with the latest Tomato firmware, and I have no complaints.

Me too, mine has been running rock solid for 189 days, it runs 3 wired connections and 3 wireless and has never had a problem, too bad i just bought a UPS a few days ago and will lose my record when i unplug it to attach it to the UPS.

If it's got a jtag header, you can probably unbrick it, with $2 of parts or $10 of premade jtag cable.
