need to replace my DIR-655

after many good years, i'm having to reboot my 655 at least 1/week - last night I had to do it twice.

I need dual band... if price was not the first consideration, what do you recommend? i've been out of the router market for about 5 years.

I do have 1 port output to a switch in the attic which feeds 4 bedrooms & kitchen in the house + wireless which feeds 2 laptops + 2 phones.

thanks a ton.

I tried one of these, looks good on paper but it is completely unreliable. In the 4 - 5 days I had it either lost connectivity with the internet, or did a brick imitation, i.e. I couldn't even ping the router, taking a power cycle to revive it.

When the IP lease from my ISP expired usually triggered either symptom, it either failed to establish connectivity, or simply did an imitation of a brick with blue lights.

I upgraded firmware, tried older versions, no difference. Found a number of online reviews where others had similar experiences.

Wish it had worked, because when it did, it was great.

The above asus or netgear WNDR3700 or one of the linksys E series. E3000 or whatever the dualband one is. There is also an updated version to the e3000.

I see that netgear has a v2 out of that WNDR3700.. its description states it has 2 bands - you can surf on one and stream video on the other.

is that just a way of saying G and N band? where you surf on G and stream on N?
