Need to replace LCD screen (LED backlit) for a Toshiba Portege, about 5 yrs old...

Can anyone help?

I have no experience replacing the LCD but the laptop is nice and mobile, light, 12.5" lcd screen and is one of the few smaller laptops that has an optical drive. Granted it's 5 yrs old. Worth repairing if I can get a replacement screen for a reasonable price. Best deal I could find is $122 online.

If anybody has advice on where to get a replacement screen (online) or better yet if someone has they are parting out, plmk. Any advice would be appreciated as this is my first time replacing an LCD screen so it's unfamiliar territory (where to buy).

Thanks in advance. Here's a link to the laptop.

The R500 actually uses quite a few different model screens. Ideally, if you could get the model number off of the back of the LCD itself (physically remove the LCD), then that would be best.

Failing in that, if you have the full model number of the laptop (located on the bottom) then you can track down what you need with that.

http://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/Toshiba/PORTEGE~R500/ here is one that should work but it looks out of stock you may want to search www.laptopscreen.com for something that is close enough. note that is for the R500 if that is not your specificly laptop you'll need to search for the right screen 12.1 not 12.5.

note this will give you what kind of screen to look for even if you don't get it there as that site will make sure it's compatible.
