Need to remove a bunch of roots from bushes

Cut down about 6-7 dead bushes, but the roots are still in the ground. It's a mess and they're everywhere and very entrenched.

Planning to rent something to dig it all out so I can plant grass seed and make the mess disappear.

The roots aren't more than 1/2" in most places.

Home depot has several tillers. Any tips on which one to get?

Get a shovel and start digging.

Shovel unless you want to start scooping with a backhoe. Have a set of long handled branch cutters. Some roots you will want to leave in the ground (too deep or impossible to pull out) and you will need to cut them away from the root ball.

O neat, are those new? I usually use those demo type of blades, didn't know they had ones out specifically for trees.

They're not new but they're very effective. Plus, Diablo blades tend to be Swiss made.
