need to reinstall HP4 print drivers at reboot

I built a new Windows 7 64 bit rig with a GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard. It did not have a legacy parallel port which I needed for an old but serviceable HP 4 laserjet printer.

So, I purchased and installed a syba PCI-express parallel port adapter which installed no problem.

I proceeded to add the new printer and installed the drivers for the HP4, no problem. All seemed fine.

But, every time I restart the computer the printer stops working, in the sense that it will send the print job to the spooler where it sits but never prints. The way I get it working again is to first delete the job in the queue, then remove the printer in control panel, then reinstall the hp 4 printer along with its driver. All works fine again...... until I reboot the computer.

Any ideas to help?
I have searched on the net with no luck.

Thanks
