Hi. I did a job last week at a supermarket setting up a small network for their accounting office in the basement. I was told that the 4 computers there would only have to see each other and print with each other. They've since called and told me that one of the computers upstars(POS terminal I think..haven't checked it out) needs to be able to print to their printer that I have set up on a private network. The upstairs printer has internet access.

How can I set it to be able to print "over the internet" so it can reach the network downstairs?

They've got about 100+ wires coming into different switches and patch panels that was all done before I came so trying to get it all on the same network would be a major pain in the ass so that's not happening..

thanks for the help.

VPN?

Edit: And you'll probably want to provide more info, such as operating systems, for the people who know what they're talking about.

Yes well the office downstairs is running XP Pro. I'm not sure what the computers upstairs are...the people there won't be able to tell me and I won't know until I go tomorrow.

update----

Went there today and just swapped a parallel cable for a USB cable and it fixed the problem. Fixed it in 30 mins. They said a company they have under contract was there for four hours trying to fix the problem and even replaced the motherboard. They were quite pleased that I fixed it so quickly..especially with my low hourly rate :)

Thanks for the help anyway..I'm glad I didn't have to do it that way, looks like it would not have been simple.
