X1650XT is generally faster than 7600GT. And it is straight no-hassle $ 99: You don't have to wait/hope for Mail-In Rebate.

X1650XT is faster

No reason not to get the X1650XT.

Where are you seeing that the X1650XT is faster Bernard?

I'm reading the benches from your link right now and it seems that 7600GT wins at least as many if not more benches than the X1650XT. EVen when the 7600GT loses to the X1650XT, it's by 2-3 fps.

This is taken from the FEAR benchmark from your link:

It?s the opposite of what we?ve seen in F.E.A.R. Extraction Point : the Radeon X1650 XT is for some reason slower than the GeForce 7600 GT in the 4x FSAA mode in spite of its low-latency memory controller architecture.

In the FSAA mode, the GeForce 7600 GT is ahead by about 10% at 1280x1024, which is the single resolution the mainstream cards provide comfortable speeds in. Well, neither of the two cards can deliver an average frame rate of over 50fps even in 1600x1200 without FSAA.

Anand's benches also seem to disagree with you.

Looks like performance is very close between the two cards so I'd just go with whichever one costs less.

1650XT also sports HDCP, for whatever that is worth. ATI Tray Tools is a beeg plus and hey it's $20 cheaper. That PSU should be overkill.

OK Matt2, maybe I could have shown more nuance :)

Let's just say the X1650XT is at least as fast as the 7600GT. And the comparative pricing tilts the balance is ATI's favor in the present situation.

overall performance the x1650xt is probably a bit faster than the 7600 GT, but they trade blows depending on the game. the x1650xt does have superior image quality over the GT....

if it were me, I'd the the Radeon.

The performance is close between the two, but the 7600gt should cost less because it lacks some of the features found on the x1650xt. For the same price, the x1650xt is better.
