Need to link my wireless laptop to the desktop.

I've just bought a new laptop, and i'd like to link it to my desktop so i can browse some files and transfer them over. I've not got the slightest clue when it comes to networking so if anyone could advise me on how to do this i'd be grateful.

Edit: My laptop is connected wirelessly to the router whilst my desktop is wired..

Thanks

The wireless to router to cable to desktop will work. Next step is to create the network using the Wizard. Later, you need to go into both systems and open up SHARING and PERMISSIONS.

This thread would be better posted in the Networking Forum.

Thanks for your reply.. Where do i find the network wizard? Incase it helps, the laptop is on Vista and the Desktop is XP Pro.

Edit: On further exploration, it seems i already have access to the desktop, just need to set which folders are available for viewing it appears.
