Need to know the upgrade capabilities of this MB

Time to upgrade my system, as it is nearing 3 years old now. I'm pretty sure this board can hold DDR 800, if I'm not mistaken (would be nice if someone could confirm that for me). What I'm totally unclear about is what kind of CPU upgrade can I do with this board, going from a Core 2 Duo E6600?

Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm sorry for being ignorant on this matter, but what does your response mean exactly? I can use any non-45nm cpu on the planet in this MB?

Go to Gigabyte's website, they have CPU support lists with the BIOS versions needed for each...

Anyways, if you already have a Core 2 Duo, I'd wait for a Core i7 upgrade. If you want to upgrade now, a Q6600/Q6700 would be good.

I don't agree with Spicedaddy assuming you have a limited budget. The board WILL support E6600 and WILL support quad core and any 45nm cpu. So you are safe to choose from any kind on current Intel cpu.

Thank you. I know it will support an E6600 as that's what I already have. Somehow my original post seemed to confused a couple of people. I wanted to know what I can upgrade to, going FROM an E6600.

But if you say my board can support any kind of current Intel CPU, that's great news. I will confirm using the tool on Gigabyte's website that Spice suggested.

Thanks everyone.
