Hey, I found this forum in my desperate search to find out what RAMs are compatible with my computer. As far as hardware goes, I know next to nothing about it, so I'm hoping you guys can guide/teach me on picking out RAM (I want to be able to find an affordable upgrade, preferbly at Fry's Electronics at www.outpost.com)

I don't really know what specs I needa post up, but I'll post up the ones I found.

ASSEMBLY, CARD (CIRCUIT), PLANAR (MOTHERBOARD), NETWORK INTERFACE CARD/CONTROLLERS, DIM8250

(Intel) PROCESSOR, 80532, 2.4G, 512K, 533, SOCKET N, C1

RAMBUS INLINE MEMORY MODULE, 128, 533MHZ, 64X16, 4C

As far as I know, rambus RAM is slightly better than others, but much too expensive. But, I wanna hear what you guys recommend, and what RAMs are possible. Thanks in advance.

Rambus only. It is more expensive, but you should crack your case to make sure that you have TWO empty slots (rambus must be installed in pairs).

[edit] Wow, i cant belive that you have two 64M modules in your rig. Is this a laptop? [/edit]

Hi, RamBus mem can be run with only one stick, but that requires a dummy stick in the other slot. I have a stick + a dummy. Dummy has only interconnections. No chips. Hope this helps a little, Jim

So, if there are two empty slots, could I just add two more 128 MB RAM?

I thought you wanted 512mb? In that case you would need 2 256mb sticks.

I know this isn't what you're asking, but I was in this position for the last two years until I "upgraded". Rambus is VERY expensive and overpriced where you only get 256MB for $130 CDN whereas you can get 1Gb of DDR for that. Also note that this stuff isn't reusable in any upgrade (DDR is phasing out(starting), but will last longer). So just take this into consideration if you even plan on upgrading soon. I somehow held off, and what a wait that was.

By the way, if you do get Rambus, check e-bay for more "reasonable" prices.
