Need to inject a few thousands in my setup

Well, I contacted Ncix.ca because I haven't received my GTX 1080ti and they said they have now ETA on it 🙁.
I'm off next week so I wanted to play with my new setup, will probably repaint the whole PC room instead and play a little with the new screen at 100hz

Very nice! How do you like the monitor? I love mine to death. Congrats. Now all you need is that 1080ti with EK block, and I can say you are in for one hell of a treat there.

Yeah I love it but can test it properly with my R9 290x, seems like its flickering when I set it to 100mhz but only when my DVI monitor is set to portrait.

I don't even have my GTX 1080ti and already eyeing a second one.

My brother has a GTX 1080 setup and just bought a second one. Gives me itch to buy a second one too.

I'm so tempted to go ultrawide instead of 4k. I'm just not sure which is the better gaming solution.

Do you guys know if it is normal that the monitor flickers when I set a higher refresh rate.
It is still plugged into my R9 290x and my second monitor, which is the portrait 1440p CrossOver 27QLed-P monitor is plugged via DVI?
The R9 290x is also overclocked to 1150/1350

21:9 is a whole new experience. 4k is just sharper, but still the same experience. Ultrawide gives you that surround setup feel without the bezels. I'd recommend at least a 34" though since its the exact same height as a 27". So under 34" UW would be too small. 34" 3440x1440p is just awesome.

Mine does not flicker and its not normal, but you may have something going on with drivers conflicting or something. Maybe it has to due with more than one monitor and it being an AMD card or something, but it shouldn't flicker.

Don't. SLI scaling sucks. You're better off just waiting, buying 2 Vega 10 cut down chip for crossfire. May cost +$100 more than a second 1080Ti, but then you'll have both setups.

I'm just assuming you have 2 setups though....

I only have one setup.

AMD will be out of the question for the next 2-3 years. I have been waiting for them to release something high end for like 2 years. Rx 480 is their last release. 🙁

My birthday is in August so I'll tell the wife a nice UW would be a great birthday present.

I went Ultrawide last August/September. I don't think I can ever go back. Wife has a 29" UW and "feels" like 2/3 the size of my 34". In the process of getting the approval to pick up a 42-50" 4K TV for console experience gaming on the side, but wife is throwing up road blocks 🙁

With almost every game I'd want to play coming out on PC, my consoles are basically useless outside of 1-2 console exclusives a year. What a good time to be a PC gamer 😀

I used r9 290 with 2560x1440 144hz predator monitor via dp, never flickers. Now its running on gtx1070 165hz.

Monitor techs has been exciting, never thought missing this out for so many years.

It's the one I got 😀

I am still waiting for my SLI GTX 1080ti and blocks and still trying to study wich HB bridge I need...if I actually need one at all. I just wonder if the MSI HB Bridge will fit with EK Terminal/blocks on the cards.

Sweet, brother. We'll both be rocking the UW!

Hey Karlitos,

Maybe cancel the NCIX order and just grab one from Amazon? They have some in stock right now as of 6pm 3/25. ->

also check this if they sell out ->

Also, the flickering above 100hz seems to be like a constant issue with AMD cards, especially on G-sync monitors. I just got a Dell S2716 DG (1440p/144hz/G-sync) monitor and if I try to set the refresh rate anything above 85hz on my R9 290, I get crazy flickering/screen going on and off. Brought my monitor over to my friends place and the issue was resolved when using his Geforce 1070. I also tried 3 different displayport cables, 3 different drivers spanning 2 years but could not fix the problem. The 1080 Ti should resolve your issue.

I got my UW yesterday and it is glorious!

Ended up giving my LG Ultrawide 34" screen to my daughter for Minecraft and I went back to gaming on the projector. Witcher 3 was too demanding for my GTX 1060 at high or ultra settings. Playing on a 106" screen is just amazing for Witcher.

Been in give away mode. Gave my nephew my second Asus 28" 4k monitor. Waiting for 1080 Ti and a curved screen for the next toy. 4k at 28" was to much for my eyes.

I went to 4k way to soon. Watching this threat/forum to plan my next crazy GPU buy. Bought a 1060 to hold me over when my AMD 290x died.
