Scotch tape over the laser if he has an IR mouse.

Take a print screen of the desktop as it is, then remove all the desktop items, and set his backround to the desktop image. None of the 'icons' will work, doesn't last that long though.

hahahaha..scotch tape the pins on the jack? Thats fncked up.

Nobody uses this computer but me. I keep it at 85Hz because the flickering at 60Hz is horrible and gives me a headache.

Do what someone else said, take a screen shot of his desktop, and set it as a background image. Then, remove all icons, and unlock the task bar. Move the taskbar to the top of the screen, then resize it to where you can't see it. Now, none of the icons or the task bar will work at all. Should drive him crazy for a while :)

If you have some free time with his computer, get a program like partition magic, and create a new partition on his hard drive. Install Slackware Linux (or other hard-to-use o/s), and set that partition as the active one, so it boots straight to linux each time. By creating a new partition for it, it can still be reversed by deleting Linux and changing the active partition, that way he doesn't lose any of his files or anything, just drives him mad for a while.

Fill up his gas tank with a Sunday newspaper. :p

Haha, good one.

Some dells ship with a monitor utility that uses a key sequence to invert the screen. I used to do this to people as a practical joke. If you don't know what's doing it, you'll never get it fixed.

This one would be even funnier if you combined it with the desktop screenshot prank, but flipped the screenshot so it looks righstide-up when it's inverted.

If you have line of sight to his workstation, hook up a receiver for one of those wireless trackballs, and keep the trackball itself at your system. Sometimes, when he reaches for his mouse, give it a whirl.

Or, if his system uses certain mouse software (MS Intellipoint doesn't have it, or I just can't find it, but some mouse software does), find the place where you can set mouse orientation (e.g. it has a calibration screen where you drag the mouse in whatever direction should be "up"), and screw it all up. Ergo, his screen is normal, but the mouse won't move in the direction he thinks it should.
