I've been in the process of starting a business and need to make a decision as to buy a line myself and run my own server or get it done with one of the many web-hosting services. As far paying for a line, I could get cable with my own IP at about 2.05Mb per second (that?s the RR residential limit, might be higher for business), nothing crazy or expensive like an oc-48 or even a t1. Is cable good enough? Or would it be just so much simpler to get it done with someone that does this for a living? If the later, would you recommend a hosting service?

It probably easier to run you business by using hosting service.
If you intend to use IIS for web server and it's the best
I think for windows, it has tons of patch and MS release tons of patch for IIS
every months.

So you might be worried more about your server security than running your business.

You could try Sitelinq for hosting.
Btw I'm not affiliated with them, I'm one of their customer actually
and so far a good service.

Probably not a good solutions for running a business, but you can get a free hosting account at Freedom 2 Surf. They support PHP and MySQL. Are you planning to use PHP-Nuke?
