...does anyone know where i can have a CPU tested at? ...i have a Athlon 64 3200. i am having problems getting my new system to boot. i am trying to test the componets. do computer stores typically do something like this?

...i bought the CPU oem over 30 days ago, so i may have to eat the cost of it if it is faulty.

It's not necessarily your CPU.

Actually, your CPU is the least likely component to be bad unless you somehow burned it.

Motherboards and memory have caused me the most heartache in the past.

Any PC shop can test it. I'm pretty sure BestBuy, CircuitCity, etc could test it too, although they will probably charge a fee and the local PC shop might not, especially if you bought the cpu from them.

I agree that the CPU is most likely not the culprit (especially if the PC was ever able to POST with it.... no DOA). Mobo's, RAM, jumpers and mobo headers are where I would look 1st.

I assume you haven't been able to POST yet?

Do you have any spare parts lying around? And does anything ever come up on the screen? If you have a video card make sure its in all the way.
