Need to haul a set of couches

Going to be picking up a set of couches (sofa and love seat) pretty soon and they're quite a bit away so I don't want to go under prepared and not be able to haul them back in one trip. Would a pickup be able to handle the job or should I go with a 10 foot uhaul truck?

Should be okay. Just bring plenty of blankets and straps because you'll likey have to slide them in with the fronts/backs facing down.

Put the sofa in, then put the love seat upside down on top of it. Strap them down. Drive to place, unload, get beer, sit on couch and love seat.

This. :thumbsup: Your average full-sized pickup will have a 6.5' (77" ) bed (ballpark, may vary slightly), so assuming no tool boxes, etc. you should plan on leaving the tailgate down to accommodate the couch. That means you will want to have straps going across the end of the couch/loveseat as well as multiple straps over the top. If the cushions are removable, put them between the two pieces before stacking them to prevent flyaway.

If by full, you mean long, then yeah, 8'. However, most trucks I see on the road are not long bed. By 'full-sized' I was referring to 1/2 ton or larger.

"Would a full size pickup with a full bed be enough?" to me implies that it's not a short bed.

Short beds used to be universally 6'6" until Dodge wanted to make their cab larger, then they made it 6'3" and many have gone smaller yet, especially in the not-quite-full-size market (formerly known as compact).

Fair enough, and I implied that he was specifically excluding compact trucks and things like the Ford F150 SuperCrew with a 5.5' (or whatever it is) bed. 🙂

As long as at least half the couch can fit in the bed who cares how long the bed is. Just hang the rest out the back. This isn't complicated. If I can do it with a minivan you sure as hell should be able to figure it out with a full sized truck.
