Greetings fellow ATOTers,

I've heard the term "crutch" not being used in the context of a device to support yourself when your leg(s) are broken, but rather in the sense of sort of an excuse for doing or not doing something.. ie scapegoat or "copout". However, I don't have a clear definition for it.

Please tell me what you think "crutch" means in that latter context.

The exact same thing it means in the literal sense...a form of support for a "lame" or weak argument.
