How does one remove the bookmarks from a a firefox installation. Long story short my wife's computer crashed but her hard drive was not harmed. She had FF3 installed and I can't find anything with her bookmarks in there. Also once these are extracted, how are they loaded into the new computer (if different than a normal import)?

Not sure but be sure to install Foxmarks firefox extensions for her... online bookmarks synced to any firefox installations you need :)

Is there a tool to take basically everything in a given profile that you point it to by file path and import it, e.g. bookmarks (well that can be done manually), but even moreso saved passwords, saved form data, history, et. al.?

It'll import that stuff ONCE upon installation of a new FF version from the exact same user account's IE or FF previous version settings on the same PC / login. I'd like to pull in data from multiple different computers from old backups, and multiple different user account logins on the same PC since I often run with multiple accounts for various sysadmin / special purpose configurations, and have a dual-booted OS which also runs FF, etc.

Obviously you can maintain bookmark sync with one of the network based bookmarks tools, but it seems to miss the boat in not handling passwords / history / form data / preferences like ALLOW/BLOCK lists et. al.
