how do i go about this? i have about 800MB of sent emails in a private server that i rent webmail's sent box. this is starting to take up too much space and i need to move it to a pc. email client will probably be just plain old outlook express unless i need something different to do this.

please assist

i have the smtp/pop settings but will it grab the sent files that are in the sent folder on the mail server?

normally i just set up an email acct, setup the client and never go through the webmail interface - therein lies my dilema.

if just setting up the client will grab the sent files that is excellent, just that i have never done that in the past

I saw this in Computer Help Forum - and I can give the same response. I have three separate email accounts - two with Comcast and one local. I travel a lot and sometimes when I get homne I need to move email around, including messages I sent. What I do is simply FWD them to the account I want to save them in. Then I delete them from the other account.

I see your note was moved by mod from Off Topic to Computer Help. Some one there commented it was the wrong forum. Well, the fact is, I see no forum that specifically addresses EMAIL MANAGEMENT.

This is as good a place as any until that bubbles up. 🙂

thanks corkyg

somebody asked in the thread that got moved/deleted (i had 2 up) if the server supports imap. i looked and from the websites control panel the directory to the mail is /imap/XXXXXXXXXX.com/info/Maildir/ but all i get are smtp and pop3 info when i create a new account. i have never used imap.....what am i looking for?
