I've been seeing SB Live! value cards advertized with 1024 at the end, and claiming its a new model. Is this true or are all of the SB Live! value cards the same?

I believe the SB 1024 is sold only in Asia and Europe, but Ethernet said he has both of them, so that may disprove what I know

I think that the 1024 (european) and MP3+ (USA) are a revised version both in hardware and software

Some of the Value that you will find are OEM for people like dell and others. Please take note of the part number on the card. I got one that looked just like the MP3 or the X-Gamer but the board would not work with my drivers that I had from a previous live. When I called SB they asked for the part number and then told me that some of those card are made specifically for some top-tier company and are not supported by them. I was told these companies request what features they want on the board so not everything is supported. Bottom line is, be careful of the live you get. I think the true live value is different from the full live in appearance. I could be wrong also. I spent the money and got an X-Gamer and the Digital-Optical I/O for my minidisc recording and I am happy. Got liveware 3, the minidisc center and lava working up a storm.

One of my cards has a dark brown finish, and dark colors for the input/output jacks. It also has a digitial spif (or whatever).

The other is a lighter color of brown and has pastel colored input/output and only has a CD music connector, not the other 2 digital thingys.

Yes, there will be a more revised and updated version of the SB Live! digital sound processor "EMU10K1", which supposedly shrink the die and added some extra features, as well as better hardware EAX, along with EAX4.0 and stuff. It's not coming out until fall though.

I believe the current SB Live! models are the CT4760 for the MP3/Gamer/Platinum, and the CT4830 (or CT4832) for the OEM model.

Note that the old Value! is the CT4670, the number of which people can get confused with comparing to the first one I mentioned. Do not get the CT4670. (I don't think they make them anymore anyway.)

Not sure, but i think the 1024 is the CT4760 sold in Eurasia with no extra software besides the usual Creative stuff. You can get it in North America, but it's very hard to find. The CT4760 is the best all-around card.

This is off the top of my head, so take it with a grain of salt. (Yummy!)

CT4760: SPDIF 5.0 V, works with Live!Drive and digital I/O card, has digital input
CT483x: SPDIF 0.5 V, works with digital I/O card, not sure about Live!Drive, most do not have digital input
CT4670: No SPDIF output, does not work with Live!Drive.

There was an older revision of the card (which I have) which did not have the digital SPDIF out on the back. This really isn't a problem unless you have something that specifically needs it. I know that the one products that needs the SPDIF, the Cambridge SoundWorks 2000 series speakers, actually comes with a cable to give you the SPDIF on the older card. But almost all of the cards out there now have it.

In other words, unless the card is really old, you should be OK.
