Need to get a printer tomorrow! Suggestions for all-in-one's

I bought a Lexmark x83 this evening - usb, printer, scanner and copier.

Print quality of regular text is crappy - white streaks through the black text. After going through cleaning and options and unclogging nozzles several times and even reinstalling the driver (latest one out), their Help suggested I change from "Normal" to "Photo" - which worked but was slow as hell. It took 2 minutes to print a page (black text) that had a border around it. Also, changing to "Photo" printed regular text pages so slow I could've chiseled it out in stone before the printing was done.

I'm returning it tomorrow - got it from Staples. Going through some of the older posts, it seems like HP is a good model - but I do want the scanner and copier features along with a usb instead of a parallel port connection.

I really need you guys for suggestions! I use this printer for work when I'm working at home so I need a good one. I know HP is more pricey, but I'd rather pay for quality than get stuck again.

you could get the compaq A1000 from here. it is refurbished, but ive had one for 3 months...its fast, looks nice, not loud but it makes a cool noise when it scans/copies, very dependable, easy to use, and has never had a problem. i would recommend it, and its only 125 dollars after shipping, so that is even better. my $0.02

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up doing a trade-off - exchanging the Lexmark for an HP psc 750. It was expensive (around $250) but I had to get a printer today - have work due Monday morning.

Printer and copier works great! Print/copy quality is excellent. I don't have to turn on the PC to make copies which is nice. Haven't played around with the scanner yet. I recommend it to anyone looking for a multi-functional printer. :)
