Need to format.. computer won't boot off of CD!

Hey Folks,

I need to format this computer, and my computer won't boot off of my cd (and yes I have changed the boot order).

Is this normal? Where can I find a bootdisk for windows XP, or 98.

Are you strictly looking to blank the hard drive before giving it away? If so, there's DBAN...

But yeah, it's not normal for the system to refuse to boot from CD altogether. Seems like there's been a rash of that lately.

If you've a got a Maxtor HD, go to their site and d/l free proggie Maxblast. It's a bootable utility (don't even need windoze) and is easy to use for format, partitioning, LL format etc.
