Need to fix boot sector on HD

Need to try to fix boot sector on HD that had boot sector go. I recoveed with only a week's loss of data, or less, but would like to see if I can get it to boot again.
Using Win XP Pro, Athlon 2500, 512MB ram, Asus A7V400MX MB.
